In the story, there are two witches, Elphaba, who will eventually become the wicked witch and Glinda, the supposedly likable witch. The setting of the story began before Dorothy arrived in Oz with the help of her ruby slippers. With that said, the viewers could expect notable references, dialogues, and scenes in the ever popular “The Wizard of Oz” movie of 1939.
You need not see the epic of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz to admirer this musical and its plot. The essential characters of the tale, aside from the two witches are The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Madame Morrible, Fiyero, Nessarose, Boq, and Doctor Dillamond. Each one of these characters features a distinct singing voice in the performance that makes the musical more entertaining and festive. The most crowd-pleasing numbers of the musical are “No One Mourns the Wicked”, “Dear Old Shiz”, “As Long as You’re Mine”, and “For Good”, among others.
